Equatorial Guinea Expands Scope of Major Crude Oil and Petroleum Tank Farm Project

The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy, representing the Government of Equatorial Guinea, announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three companies to build a crude oil and petroleum products storage tank farm on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea.

Eni, together with Statoil, Sasol and ENH, have been awarded, following the 5th Competitive Mozambique Bid Round,  the exploration and development rights of the offshore block  A5-A, in the area of Mozambique named Angoche,  about 1,500 kilometers northeast of the capital city  Maputo. The block, which covers a total area of di 5,145 square kilometers in a water depth between 200 and 1800 meters, is placed within an unexplored area of the Northern Zambesi Basin, which the consortium estimate to contain significant hydrocarbon resources.
