SNE2 First Appraisal Well Starts Drilling Offshore Senegal

The first appraisal well to be drilled on the SNE oil field located 100km offshore Senegal has been spudded. The SNE-2 well will be drilled in approximately 1,100 metres of water and drilled to a TDVSS (total vertical depth subsea) of approximately 2,770 metres before an evaluation program including logging, coring and flow testing is undertaken.

American Capital Energy & Infrastructure Announces Commitment to Invest in West Africa's Largest Wind Farm

American Capital Energy & Infrastructure ("ACEI") announced today a commitment to invest in Senegal's first industrial-scale wind power project and the largest wind farm planned in West Africa.  The project will help the country reduce its reliance on high-cost oil-fired power generation.  The total capital cost of this facility is estimated at €305 million, with ACEI anticipating to provide an estimated €76 million of equity and the remainder expected from senior and mezzanine lenders.

African Petroleum Enters First Renewal Period on Senegal Licence

African Petroleum Corporation, an independent oil and gas exploration company operating ten licences in five countries offshore West Africa, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary African Petroleum Senegal Limited has just received confirmation from the President in the form of a Presidential decree of entry into the First Renewal Period on licence Senegal Offshore Sud Profond (“SOSP”). Prior to entering into the First Renewal Period, Petrosen (the National Oil Company of Senegal) agreed to defer the existing well commitment of the First Renewal Period of SOSP by 18 months to allow for further technical work by the Company prior to drilling.

Second Significant Oil Discovery Offshore Senegal

FAR Ltd (ASX: FAR) has made a second oil discovery offshore Senegal in West Africa in the SNE-1 well. The SNE-1 well has discovered a 95 metre gross oil bearing column with net oil pay zone thickness of 
36 metres in Albian aged sandstones which display excellent reservoir potential. High quality 32° API oil has been recovered to the surface.
